Americans putting money over morals
What is wrong with us, the everyday American citizens? We keep re-electing the same useless politicians who are only interested in keeping their cushy jobs in local, state and federal government. We pay ridiculously high ticket prices to see overpaid athletes. We watch stupid “reality” TV programs that allow untalented, egotistic “stars” to go to other countries and embarrass us as Americans since I’m sure the people of those countries think they represent us.
We allow our state colleges to pay their coaches ludicrous salaries while the tuitions keep going up — I really thought school was all about getting an education, not sports. I guess I really thought sports was a pastime activity, played primarily for fun. It’s sometimes embarrassing to listen to some of the college athletes speak as it’s hard to believe they were even able to graduate from high school much less college.
We have let money become the most important thing in our lives and have given up on ethics and morals. Our forefathers would be ashamed of us. Wake up America before our wonderful democracy is gone. What I am seeing lately makes me glad to be a senior citizen as I hope to not be around to watch the destruction of our country from within. Of course, the younger generation may not realize what they’ve lost, but I would.
