CASA Lake County moves to new location

Submitted by CASA Lake County

In early December, CASA Lake County held an open house for its 235 volunteers. Earlier this year, CASA moved into a new 6,000-square-foot office space at 700 Forest Edge Drive in The Corporate Woods office park in Vernon Hills.

Program Director Wendy LaPlaca said the move into the single occupant building will enable the staff to work together in one location for the first time in the agency's 17-year history.

“This new space provides CASA staff with an improved environment for decision making and training, and allows for easier information sharing and dialogue among staff members,” LaPlaca said.

The new space is also much closer to the Robert W. Depke Juvenile Justice Complex, where juvenile court cases are heard.

CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, helps abused and neglected children who are in the Lake County Juvenile Court due to abuse and neglect. Following 40 hours of training, advocates are sworn in as friends of the court to advocate for the best interests of these children.
