Friendship Village celebrates its 35th anniversary

Friendship Village of Schaumburg is celebrating its 35th anniversary through a series of programs, events and honors which will begin next week and continue throughout the year.

The festivities officially kick-off on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 2 p.m. with the 35th anniversary and Centenarian Celebration in Assembly Hall. State Rep. Michelle Mussman, Schaumburg Village President Al Larson and other dignitaries will be on hand offering congratulations and formal proclamations to Friendship Village for its invaluable presence in the community.

The opening ceremony will also honor Friendship Village's 18 centenarians who are celebrating their birthdays of 100 years or more during 2012. Six associates who have worked at Friendship Village for 30 years or more will also be recognized. The program will close with a special anniversary video and refreshments.

For residents of Friendship Village, the rest of the week will include meal service featuring Dining Across the Decades, sessions of Family Feud Friendship Village Style held across campus, a 1970s disco party and more.

On Friday, Jan. 20, all residents and associates will have the opportunity to participate in an online experience event. Representatives from Ivy Marketing Group will be on hand to help residents record and post their favorite memories of Friendship Village. These recollections will be posted on Friendship Village's newly re-launched website at www.friendship village.org.
