Streamwood’s spirit of charity on display

During this season of charity and goodwill toward men, I wanted to share with your readers something that demonstrates the spirit of compassion and community. Commander Randall Hart of the Streamwood Police Department is the liaison for the Streamwood Neighborhood Watch groups.

It was brought to his attention that there were a few of our residents who were in desperate need of assistance this Christmas. Commander Hart reached out to the Neighborhood Watch community to see if there was something that could be done.

The Streamwood Neighborhood Watch community responded with an overwhelming desire to help. Over $1,300 in gift cards were donated which allowed them to help two families. Doug and Ellen Baker, Tammy Shaeffer and Dave and Barb Amos shopped and wrapped all the gifts.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated and worked so hard to ensure that these families would have a merry Christmas this year. The kindness and generosity that you have displayed is an inspiration to us all. I feel truly blessed to be part of such a wonderful community.
