How ‘bout donating to bottom 50 percent?

I recently paged through the editorials to read how one gentleman made Speaker John Boehner the bad guy in this whole payroll tax holiday debacle. Well, he left out a few facts like the Senate couldn’t pass its own bill.

Then they ignored the president’s desire for a bill that included a 12-month tax holiday and passed something instead that lasts only two months and then had the nerve to adjourn for the holidays. The House stuck around waiting foolishly to work out a compromise. Senator Reid made Boehner look like Scrooge.

In my view, the Senate quit, refused to work, leaving the rest of the country wondering if they really care about getting the job done. What I want is a Senate that works with the House instead of playing games. A president more concerned about how new energy regulations are going to hit us in the pocketbook than telling sob stories about how paying $40 less each week into social security is going to help some dad buy pizza for his daughters.

I want a president and Congress truly caring about creating jobs, keeping our energy costs low and tax breaks that don’t steal from the Social Security fund. To Mr. Kives of Hoffman Estates, I’m not sure your president cares about you, too, much as he does those Hollywood and Wall Street folks who pay $38,500 apiece to have their picture taken with your “caring and intelligent” man.

If he truly did care, he’d donate some of his fundraisings cash to those in the bottom 50 percent who make less than $33,000 a year.
