Kaneland loses 1st conference game
Kaneland on Friday dropped its first game in the Northern Illinois Big 12 Conference East Division, losing 56-51 at Yorkville.
Kaneland (9-5, 3-1) was led by Tyler Heinle’s 17 points. The Knights remain tied atop the division standings with Rochelle, which beat DeKalb 78-48 on Friday.
Yorkville (11-3, 2-2) took off to a big lead over Kaneland, 23-3 in the first quarter. Kaneland cut the deficit to 3 points within the last two minutes before the Foxes closed it out.
“The kids played hard and fought back, which is nice,” said Kaneland coach Brian Johnson. “But you can’t get in deficits like that, you’re not going to win very many games.”
