Woodridge police searching for man impersonating officer
Woodridge police are searching for a man who impersonated a police officer and robbed a victim late Tuesday night.
Kate Andris, public information officer for the Woodridge Police Department, said the victim walked out of a store in the 2500 block of Spring Road at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and bumped into the very tall, black male with a large build.
She said the offender, who was dressed in all-black clothing, showed the victim a badge and a pair of handcuffs, identified himself as a police officer, and frisked the victim.
During the frisking, the offender took out the victim's wallet, removed his debit card, then fled the scene on foot, Andris said.
She said the victim was not injured, but it's unclear if the offender attempted to purchase anything with the victim's debit card.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Woodridge Police Department at (630) 719-4728.
