Arlington Hts. parks increase fees slightly
Fees for Arlington Heights Park District programs will increase 1-3 percent, or in some cases a small amount like $1 that represents a higher percent of the current rates, the park board agreed Wednesday night.
Rare programs saw higher jumps, and in many cases fees will remain the same.
“We tried very hard to maintain our fees,” said Steve Scholten, executive director. “But maintaining the quality of our programs requires keeping quality instructors and adequate supplies.”
The board expects all programs to cover direct costs including instructors’ salaries and supplies. In addition each program covers up to 40 percent of indirect costs such as a share of registration staff, brochure space, and building heat, light and maintenance.
The remaining costs are covered by property taxes.
