Duo charged in Island Lake burglary, suspected in others

Two suspects in a string of home burglaries in Lake and Kenosha counties have been arrested by Island Lake police, authorities said.

Ronny V. Vedder, 32, and Frank P. Amelio, 35, both of Trevor, Wis., are charged with burglary, police said Saturday.

The duo burglarized a house on the 600 block of Yale Lane in Island Lake on Dec. 22, police said. During the ensuing investigation, officers connected the crime to other burglaries in rural Lake County and Kenosha County, according to a news release.

Police, using search warrants, later discovered items reported stolen in the burglaries, police said.

Vedder and Amelio were arrested Thursday. Both were in custody at the McHenry County jail.

No details were available Saturday about the burglaries that occurred outside Island Lake, or if charges are pending in those cases.
