Is Roskam really working for us?
I just received a very slick and colorful mailing from Congressman Peter Roskam — the No. 1 user of congressional free postage. I object!
In small type it’s noted “this mailing was prepared, published and mailed at taxpayer expense.” That’s my money and yours used to push a political agenda. I object!
Congressman Roskam has never shown himself to be independent. He votes with his party’s bloc — he voted against taxing the 1 percent. He voted against the jobs bill, and there is not enough space to tell all the votes he made against Middle America and against the poor.
He says he’s protecting Medicare against fraud and abuse — and when it comes to abuse why doesn’t he tell us the truth: He and his party want to repeal the current bill/law that among other things enabled millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions to get insurance. That’s abuse.
He votes with his party, not for the people in our district and in this nation who are 67 percent in favor of the jobs bill — that’s the pen abuse.
He cites “increasing government transparency.” How about Roskam transparency — where is he getting the money for his campaign? Why does he vote with his party and not for the unemployed and underemployed?
Congressman, how much did the preparation, publication and mailing did this brochure cost the taxpayers? That’s transparency.
He has a right to tell his story, but not at taxpayer expense.
You want my vote, Mr. Roskam, then stop frightening seniors like me about abuses and talk to me about the real issues like jobs, the economy, education, tax reform, consumer protection and a lot more.
You know what we want, and you are our employee. Now do your job, or we’ll do what’s right and fire you.
