McHenry County event talks ecological history
Join the Lake-to-Prairie Chapter of Wild Ones on Jan. 3 for a step back in time as Ed Collins uses historic archives and botanical intuition to understand what has transpired across the landscape of northeastern Illinois over the past 10,000 years.
Collins, head of the natural resource management department for the McHenry County Conservation District, will discuss the forensic ecology of the region at the group's meeting from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. at the Wauconda Area Library, 801 North Main St., Wauconda.
Visitors will get an understanding of the ecological landscape and how tracing that history can help create richer prairie, woodland and wetland restoration projects.
