Man found dead after standoff in Northbrook

An armed standoff that forced some Northbrook residents to stay away from their windows has ended with one person dead.

WBBM-AM in Chicago reports that police found the body of a man inside his home about 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say they were called to the scene Wednesday afternoon after a woman reported a domestic dispute. The woman told police she heard a gunshot as she was leaving the home.

Some homes were evacuated while other neighbors were told to take cover. Police tried to speak to the man but were unable to do so.

Finally, SWAT team members went into the home, where they found the man dead.

Authorities were still investigating.
