Stevenson rolls past St. Francis

Katie Batman scored 15 points with three 3-pointers and Olivia Whalen added 10 with two 3-pointers, as Stevenson stopped Wheaton St. Francis 62-29 in the fourth round of the Suburban Holiday Classic Tuesday in Lincolnshire.

Playing on their home floor, the Patriots scooted to a 20-7 lead after one quarter and never looked back to improve to 11-5 and 2-2 in the tourney.

They will face Lake Zurich (10-5, 2-2) at 4:30 p.m. today for the consolation championship at Loyola High School.

Taylor Buford added 10 points for the Pats while teammates Kari Moffat and Julia Dabrowski each chipped in 10.

β€œIt was a good team effort following the holiday layoff,” said Patriots hall of fame coach Tom Dineen, who played all 12 girls on his roster. β€œI thought we handled the ball better and shot it well.”

Joliet West 44, Antioch 27: Brittany Kelly led the Sequoits with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in the Lisle tournament.

Paige Gallimore added 7 points. The point total was a season low for the Sequoits, who shot 21 percent. Antioch (5-8) will play Reed-Custer at 5:30 p.m. today.
