Got talent? AID seeks volunteers, performers for March telethon

Submitted by AID

On Saturday, March 17, hundreds of volunteers will join together at the Association for Individual Development Telethon to raise $125,000 in pledges for more than 5,100 children and adults with disabilities, mental illness, and special needs in our communities. Volunteers can help contribute to the AID Telethon in a variety of ways.

Two hundred volunteers are needed to answer the phones throughout the day. Interested parties may volunteer individually or as a group representing a business or organization.

Got talent? Consider participating in the fundraising event. Talent showcases run throughout the day featuring local dancers, singers, musicians and more.

In addition, the Association for Individual Development is dedicated to finding meaningful work for individuals interested in community employment. In early December, AID hosted a corporate dialogue that focused on improving the relationship between service providers and employers.

Companies included Walgreens, Southwest Airlines, OfficeMax, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods and Marshalls.

The dialogue’s main purpose was to build a relationship between these local businesses and service providers for individuals with disabilities. The discussion focused on the recruiting and retention of qualified individuals with disabilities.

AID thanks all the representatives from community businesses and organizations who attended the event for their valuable insight. AID would also like to thank Illinois Assisting and Strengthening Corporations to Employ and Enable People with Disabilities for sponsoring the event.
