We’ve lost trust in our elected leaders
Proposals for Illinois:
1. A new medium-security prison to be built next to the state Capitol building. A connecting corridor will facilitate government officials going directly from their offices to jail.
2. Future election ballots will allow people to vote on the length of automatic sentences for elected candidates.
The humor is bad, but how else do we express rage? Blagojevich has proved that promises to end corruption are just words for the foolish to believe. What can “We, the People” do to force change? Maybe candidates for office should be required to pass polygraph tests. It could save the FBI a lot of time later.
It is terrible that the only difference between government and organized crime seems to be that organized crime does not have elections. Is there such a thing as a politician with conscience, dignity, and any sense of shame? When did psychosis become a requirement for government office? We are beginning an election year in which nobody has any faith or belief in any candidate or political party. When do politicians get the picture? Everyone is fed up!
