Freedom Plaza back on the table in Naperville?
Naperville City Council members may have breathed life Monday into a proposed development recently deemed dead.
Developers were proposing a 165-room full-service Embassy Suites hotel with a 20,000-square-foot conference facility, free-standing Pita Inn restaurant and a CRL River Walk Manor Alzheimer’s assisted-living facility on the nine acres on Abriter Court just north of Diehl Road.
They pulled the plug on the proposed Freedom Plaza development last month when council members declined to change the zoning to accommodate the CRL facility.
Monday night, council members approved the hotel and restaurant portions of the plan on the east side of the retention pond on the site.
City officials are now hoping the developer will come forward with an appropriate use for the lot once proposed for the Alzheimers facility.
Representatives for developer Superhost Enterprise were unavailable Monday night.
