Lakemoor man accused of threatening police

A 29-year-old Lakemoor man is in Lake County jail after threatening to blow up a police officer and his personal vehicle, police said.

Alan J. Dufield, 29, of the 110 W. Rand Road, was arrested about 1 a.m. Sunday while hiding from police on the 27000 block of Case Road in Lakemoor, said Police Chief William Kushner.

Lakemoor police had been searching for Dufield for about two weeks for violating his parole but were unable to find him. Kushner said.

Just after midnight Sunday, Dufield dialed the Lakemoor police nonemergency number and threatened to “blow up a police officer and his personal vehicle,” Kushner said.

Lakemoor police contacted officers from Wauconda, Island Lake, McHenry and the Lake County sheriff’s office, who quickly surrounded the 27000 block of Case Road. Officers eventually searched the house and found Dufield hiding in the attic, Kushner said.

Dufield’s previous arrest record was unavailable Monday.
