New party could solve our problems
After the supercommittee’s inability to reach compromise regarding trimming the budget and revising taxes, it’s time to junk both political parties. Let’s start two new parties. The first one can be called the “Do-Nothing” or the “Gridlock” or maybe the Republicats” or Democrans.” Since all of our current federal legislators are more concerned about themselves than the country, we can shove all of them into this new party. After all, since they’re all doing the same amount of nothing, they aren’t exactly across the aisle anymore.
Now we can start the second party. Maybe we can call it the “USA First” party. It’s first plank will require its senatorial candidates to run for only one 6-year term and representative candidates to run for no more than three 2-year terms ensuring no legislator will be in office more than six years. The second plank will require all candidates elected to look beyond their political terms, put the country’s needs first, and work to solve our problems as opposed to what our current bunch of legislators are doing.
The USA First party can have as its symbol an American eagle, with its keen eyesight and strong talons. That other party can have as its symbol, for obvious reasons, an ostrich with its head in the sand.
