District 15 foundation seeks local artists for fundraiser

Local artists interested in combining charity with exposure for their work should consider answering the District 15 Educational Foundation’s “Call to Artists.”

The foundation is looking for artists interested in supporting their mission by donating original artwork. The nonprofit organization was founded to acquire resources for programs and projects that enhance and supplement the educational experience of Palatine Township Elementary District 15 students.

The donated pieces will be displayed and sold at the D15 Royale and Art Auction Extravaganza, an event set to take place Saturday, March 3, at the Meadows Club, 2950 W. Golf Road, Rolling Meadows.

Last year, more than 150 foundation supporters attended the extravaganza, which also included charitable gaming, gourmet cuisine and a wide array of live and silent auctions.

Selected artists will have their work displayed in a juried exhibition. The foundation board of trustees will name a Best of Show winner, while attendees will cast a ballot for the People’s Choice Award.

Event organizers decided to add the art auction to the evening due to the popularity of the crafted bowls made by some of District 15’s talented students.

Artist applications will be accepted through Friday, Jan. 13. For those non-artists interested in attending, tickets will go on sale in January for $75.
