Bears say they're up to Tebow challenge

The Bears have had some success in the past defending athletic, mobile quarterbacks.

In Week 9, Michael Vick ran five times against them for 34 yards, and he was held to a 60.5 passer rating. In Week 4, the Panthers' Cam Newton ran for 35 yards on 8 attempts with an 83.1 passer rating.

They believe they can handle the Broncos' Tim Tebow.

“He's not Michael Vick,” Brian Urlacher said. “Plus, that's when Jay was playing, so we weren't on the field that much because our offense was doing well. We're an athletic defense. We've got a pretty good front seven. We run to the football. Hopefully we'll get takeaways like we haven't done the last couple weeks. Just run to the football and do what we do.”

Lance Briggs said he's been impressed with Tebow's play, but he's looking forward to the challenge of stopping the Broncos' unique offense, although he didn't call it “unique.”

“He's one heck of a football player,” Briggs said, “and we're going to have to stop that crap.”
