Cops: Huntley man caught using credit card from burglary

A 21-year-old Huntley man has been charged after a three-month investigation linked him to a number of vehicle burglaries around the Marengo and Huntley areas, police said.

Kyle R. Wightman, of the 10700 block of Pebble Drive., was arrested Wednesday and charged with burglary, theft and unlawful use of a stolen credit card, according to the McHenry County sheriff's office.

Police said Wightman used a credit card stolen from one of the vehicles at a business in Lake in the Hills, leading them to him. The investigation also discovered Wightman sold an Apple iPad from a vehicle he broke into and sold it to someone in the Streamwood area.

Victims reported that their vehicles were locked when they were burglarized.

Police said other items from the burglaries were recovered during the investigation.

Wightman is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and is due in court Dec. 13.
