Schaumburg Citizen Police Academy alumni honored

The Illinois Crime Prevention Association has named the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association of Schaumburg its 2011 Organization of the Year. The alumni association was recognized for playing a key role in helping the Schaumburg Police Department adapt to staff reductions and budgetary constraints. In a continuation of years of dedicated service, 153 volunteers donated 826 hours at 21 special events in Schaumburg during 2011. In particular, these volunteers have helped provide crime prevention materials, answered questions from the public, made kids buttons and fingerprinted children.
