NW Chargers Ice Dogs tourney champs
The Northwest Chargers Midget Minor NIHL team captured the annual Ice Dogs Thanksgiving Shootout Tournament championship after beating a hockey team from Highland Park High School 6-1 on Sunday, Nov. 27, at the Glacier Ice Rink in Vernon Hills.
The Chargers, out of Rolling Meadows, played three games to get to the championship game, beating the Ice Dogs on Thanksgiving Day, then beating the Kenosha Komets on Friday, and ending with a winning game against a hockey team from Warren High School on Saturday.
Team members of the Chargers include Justin Baldwin of West Dundee, goalie John Cassata of Schaumburg, Derek Chapman of South Barrington, Shun Furuno of Schaumburg, Connor Havlir of Arlington Heights, Randy Johnson of Lindenhurst, Jared Kang of Kildeer, Liam Kilcoyne of Palatine, goalie Max Kollman of Libertyville, Nolan Magsamen of Algonquin, Kyle McBrien of Lake Villa, Joey Meyer of Grayslake, Conor OMally of Elgin, Brett Roon of St. Charles, Tyler Schnell of Lake In The Hills and Tommy Zeman of Palatine. The team is coached by head coach Greg Lee, along with coaches Eric Magsamen, Tim Mueller and Troy Mueller. Leslie Meyer is the team manager.
The Chargers Midget Minor NIHL team has been the reigning Northern Illinois Hockey League champions for the last two seasons.
