The Suburbs This Weekend: Cats, candlelight and pub crawls
Take a time machine back to the 19th century or an express train on pub crawl. Witness six rings of cats of all kinds or taste the cuisine India and Nepal. Sean Stangland and Richard Battin offer their eclectic variety of activities throughout the suburbs this weekend.
Sean wants to try the homegrown Indian and Nepalese food featured at the Himalayan restaurant in Gurnee, although its sister restaurants are in Bloomingdale and Niles.
He also recommends Durty Nellie's Holiday Express pub crawl this Saturday. The event includes drinks, appetizers, and, most importantly, transportation for the crawl to Duke's Alehouse and Kitchen in Crystal Lake.
Richard's more staid choices include the Chicago Shorthair Cat Club's 47th annual CFA Holiday Festival All-Breed Cat Show Saturday at the DuPage County Fairgrounds. It features six rings of judging felines from "Best Kitten" to "Best Household Pet."
Richard also recommends a quiet "Candlelight at the Inn" Saturday and Sunday at the Garfield Farm Museum in Campton Hills. Guests can step back in time and learn about life in the 1800s.
