Therapy farm in search of volunteers

Blazing Prairie Stars, a therapy farm in Maple Park, is looking for volunteers 16 years of age and older who have at least one year's experience with horses and enjoy working with children.

Blazing Prairie Stars is a provider of horse-assisted therapy and other programs in the natural environment for children who have disabilities.

Volunteers are needed for one to two hour shifts on Monday and Wednesday mornings, afternoons and evenings to serve as horse leaders and side walkers during the therapy sessions. Saturday morning and afternoon volunteers also are needed. Volunteers also can help with grooming, tacking and other barn chores.

There will be an orientation for new volunteers Tuesday evening, Nov. 29. Call Carrie Capes at Blazing Prairie Stars at (630) 365-5550 for the starting time and to reserve a spot for yourself in the training session or just to learn more about this volunteer opportunity.

Training will be held at the Blazing Prairie Stars therapy barn at 47W635 Beith Road in Maple Park.
