Bears' Graham more than just a fill-in
Corey Graham is making the most of his opportunities.
He was forced into the nickel cornerback role when D.J. Moore was ejected in the fourth quarter of the Detroit Lions game in Week 10 and then again last week against the San Diego Chargers after Moore suffered a sprained ankle in practice the Wednesday before the game.
Graham had an interception in each game.
“He's done a great job,” coach Lovie Smith said. “Out of 19 plays he had the last couple weeks, he's had 2 interceptions, so he's been pretty productive.
“We've had him in a lot of different roles. He normally plays the same way. We really haven't missed an awful lot.”
Graham is expected to fill in again this week for Moore.
Role reversal:On Sunday, rookie Nathan Enderle will be the No. 2 quarterback behind Caleb Hanie, but veteran Josh McCown will move into the top backup spot as soon as he can get up to speed with Mike Martz's playbook.McCown's experience playing in Martz's offense with Detroit in 2006 should speed his learning curve.#8220;It does help when you've been in the system,#8221; coach Lovie Smith said. #8220;He's a smart guy. That should be an easier transition, but we have to see where he is.#8220;Nathan is in the backup role right now, and we'll let everything else play out.#8221;Injury update:Devin Hester (shin) did not practice for the second straight day, but coach Lovie Smith said he expects him to play Sunday.Cornerback D.J. Moore (ankle) did not practice all week and is expected to miss his second straight game.
