Child struck by SUV suffers minor injuries

A child was struck by an SUV outside Dick’s Sporting Goods in Schaumburg Friday night, authorities said.

The accident occurred around 7:20 p.m. near the store’s front entrance in the Streets of Woodfield shopping center. The victim, described as a young boy, was conscious and alert, according to Battalion Chief Rick Anderson of the Schaumburg Fire Department.

The boy was transported with minor injuries to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village.

Anderson said there are conflicting reports as to whether the child walked into the car.

Schaumburg police were investigating but did not release any further information Friday night.
