Glendale Heights set to light holiday tree

Right after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Santa Claus will be coming to Glendale Heights for its annual tree-lighting festivities.

Mayor Linda Jackson will be on hand to greet the red-suited guest of honor.

Rebecca Tybor, executive secretary to the mayor and village board, said Jackson will be “flipping that magic switch” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28.

“(She) enjoys see the kids’ eyes light up when all the lights go on,” Tybor said.

Not just the Civic Center Complex lights up, but the entire village, Tybor said.

The Glenside Middle School chorus will perform outside during the event on the front steps of the village hall. Afterward, everyone is invited inside, where students from Black Hawk and G. Stanley Hall elementary schools will sing and visitors enjoy hot cocoa, coffee, juice, cookies and doughnuts.
