St. Charles East drill teams shine at competition

The St. Charles East Varsity drill team had a successful weekend competing in the “East Explosion” TDI Regional Competition Nov. 6 at St. Charles East High School.

The Dancing Saints captured two first-place trophies in the 4A Open Pom and 4A Lyrical divisions.

Out of 48 schools and dance studios competing, East’s Open Pom routine also marked the highest technical score of the day, earning the dancers the “Technical Excellence Award.”

Both dances scored high enough to qualify for the TDI State Championship being held at the Peoria Civic Center Sunday, March 4.

The Junior Varsity also did well, winning first place for their lyrical performance. Their score earned the dancers a spot to compete in the TDI State Junior Varsity Competition, which will be held at Argo High School in Summit, Ill., Feb. 12.
