Outlook: Collins (6.9 ppg, 52 steals, 66 rebounds, 22 assists) is the only starter back and will serve as a co-captain this season. Last year, she shot a team-high 44 percent from the floor and 81 percent from the free throw line. "Nicole had a nice summer and we look for her to pick up right where she left last season," said Barrington coach Babbi Barreiro, who has 315 career wins. "She sees the floor so well and knows how to score. From her presence on the court and distribution of the ball, she's excellent but she also has a smooth shot. We look for some nice things from her." Barreiro likes what she has seen defensively. "The girls are extremely hard-working," the coach said. "They seem to love their defense and work well together. The energy at practice has been very intense and the girls are really pushing each other." Barreiro likes the versatility on the team. "There are a lot of directions we can go," she said. "We've got some nice post height and some quick guards. I like the pieces. We will lack some on-court experience with graduation but I'm excited because it's a nice group of kids who are working well together and real hard. There is no substitute for hard work and they're doing it."
