Prospect H.S. adviser is tops in state

Lyn Scolaro, student council and Italian Club sponsor at Prospect High School, was named Adviser of the Year at the Illinois Directors of Student Activities’ 25th annual state convention’s awards banquet and ceremony, held at Pheasant Run in St. Charles Nov. 6.

Other nominees from District 214 included school board member and past board president Bill Dussling, and Barbara Meyer, Buffalo Grove High School freshman class board adviser, French Club sponsor and varsity cheerleading coach.

The Adviser of the Year award is presented annually to an individual, who through personal time and talent, has made an impact on his or her school’s activity program, exemplifying the ideal adviser.

“Lyn teaches students how to become leaders, and often takes them to state and national conventions,” said John Novak, Prospect’s Assistant Principal for Student Activities. “She leads by example, as she herself has become an active member of the IDSA board, as well as an organizer of the councils of the six schools within our district.

“Lyn’s dedication to student learning both inside and outside of the classroom is apparent in everything that she does.”

The Illinois Directors of Student Activities is a committee that involves student activity directors and advisers from all over the state.
