Wheeling H.S. Orchesis needs your vote
The Wheeling High School Orchesis dance troupe has been selected as one of the November entries for the Pepsi Refresh Grant Program’s competition, and they need your vote.
The grant proposal seeks funding for members to attend the National High School Dance Festival at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in March 2012. Based on public voting, grants will be awarded to the top 20 proposals in the $5,000 category out of the 230 entries in that category. At the festival, dancers will meet other high school dancers, take classes from professional dancers and college faculty members, attend concerts, and see historical sites in Philadelphia.Wheeling Orchesis was chosen as one of fewer than a dozen public/nonmagnet schools to perform at the biannual festival in 2008 and 2010. The group, directed by Diane Rawlinson, is auditioning again, to potentially perform in 2012. More than 1,500 high school-aged dancers from the U.S., Canada and Australia will attend the festival.Voting takes place throughout November at the Pepsi Refresh website, text, or Facebook.
