Highland Park artist to resume landscape painting classes

Acclaimed Highland Park artist Nina Weiss is inviting artists to bring some color into their paintings this winter!

From Monday, Jan. 16 through Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m each day, artists will participate in a three-day intensive painting class at the Lill Street Art Center, 4401 North Ravenswood Ave. in Chicago. Visit www.lillstreet.com.

Students will explore painting techniques that reveal color in the Winter Landscape. Under-painting, glazing, broken-brushstroke, optical color mixing, and a review of color theory will help guide the student to rich and vibrant winter landscapes.

Composition, gesture, and other practices crucial to landscape painting will be reviewed.

Examples from art history will be presented and individual hands-on instruction will be provided.
