U-46 School News for Week of Nov. 14
Bartlett High School
On Wednesday, orchestra students will present a concert at 7 p.m. at the school. Admission is $1 per student, $2 per adult and $6 per family. Senior citizens 62 and over are admitted free with proof of age and residence in U-46.
Elgin High School

Larkin High School
On Thursday, the Academy students will present an Instrumental Music Night at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
South Elgin High School
Thursday through Saturday, the play “A Christmas Carol” will be presented at 7 p.m. There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday. Tickets are $6 per student or $8 per adult. Receive $1 off admission if you donate a canned good.
Streamwood High School
Wednesday through Saturday, the play “Dracula” will be presented at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission is $5 for students and $6 for adults. Senior citizens 62 and over are admitted free with proof of age and residence in U-46.
Abbott Middle School
On Friday, the annual Turkey Trot will be held from 2:30-3:30 p.m. on the school grounds. The Turkey Trot has been going on for at least 25 years. It is an obstacle race featuring a 7th grade girls race, 7th grade boys race, 8th grade girls race, and an 8th grade boys race. First Place receives a turkey, second receives a turkey breast, third place receives a pumpkin pie. There are usually about 250 students participating in the race.
Eastview Middle School
On Thursday, the 7th grade orchestra students will perform with 5th grade beginner orchestra students from the feeder schools including Bartlett, Centennial, Hawk Hollow, Prairieview, Spring Trail, and Sycamore Trails elementary schools. The concert begins at 6 p.m. at Bartlett High School.
Also on Thursday at 7:15 p.m., the 8th grade orchestra students will perform at Bartlett High School with 5th grade orchestra students from the feeder schools including Bartlett, Centennial, Hawk Hollow, Prairieview, Spring Trail, and Sycamore Trails elementary schools.
Fox Meadow Elementary
On Tuesday at 1:00 p.m., first-grade students will perform a Thanksgiving play for their parents in the gym.
On Wednesday at 1:15 p.m., 4th grade students will celebrate Hero Day. They have created bio-boards with their “hero” and will be sharing them with their parents.
On Friday at 10:45 a.m., parents are invited to share lunch with their students in honor of Thanksgiving.
Harriet Gifford Elementary
Monday through Wednesday, the Scholastic Book Fair will be held during school hours.
Monday evening, the Family Science Fair will be held in the gym from 6:00-7:30 p.m. The Book Fair will also be open to the families during this event.
On Wednesday, “Lunch With Your Child” will be held during lunch period. After lunch, families can visit the Book Fair.
On Wednesday evening at 6 p.m., students in grades 1-6 will present their School Sing at Larkin High School. Admission is free.
On Saturday at 8 a.m., parents and students are encouraged to help clean out leaves and brush from the outdoor classroom.
Heritage Elementary
On Thursday from 6:00-7:30 p.m., “Blast off for Books” Family Reading Night will take place. Food will be available for purchase, guest readers will be present, and families will learn about the planets. The Book Fair will also be open.
Lincoln Elementary
On Thursday from 6-8 p.m., the school will host their Family Math & Reading Night. Students and their families will be engaged in reading and math activities in the classrooms. There will also be guest readers.
On Friday, the D.A.R.E. graduation for fifth-grade students will be held at 12:30 p.m.
Lowrie Elementary
On Monday, students in grades 1-6 will perform their Autumn Choral Concert at Larkin High School at 6 p.m.
On Thursday, the school will have their Family Reading Night at 6:30 p.m. Guest readers include teachers and community members.
Ontarioville & Parkwood Elementary
On Monday, students of elementary art teacher Christa Bellock, will have their annual art show on display at the Hanover Park park district's gallery space. A variety of pieces will be exhibited from students in grades 1-6 through the month of November.
In other news,
Clinton Elementary School collected a total of 221 pairs of glasses during the month of
October. The classroom with the highest number of glasses collected was Mrs. Blanken's 6th grade class with 85 sets. They will be awarded a gift certificate for a classroom pizza party compliments of the South Elgin Lion's Club!
