Two Aggregate Industries' suburban facilities receive safety award
Des Plaines-based Aggregate Industries U.S., a member of the Holcim Group, said six of its Midwest facilities, including two in suburban Chicago. have been recognized as recipients of the National Ready Mix Concrete Association's 2011 Safety Award.
The Safety Contest is a safety performance and incentive/award program aimed at fostering safe practices at ready mixed concrete plants across the nation. All facilities operated by NRMCA member companies are eligible to participate.
“Aggregate Industries' employees embrace the universal safety measures we've implemented, and this award is more than a point of pride,” said Norm Jagger, senior vice president, Aggregate Industries U.S. Midwest region. “It demonstrates that our adherence to stringent safety policies and commitment to ongoing training keeps us safe.”
The local facilities receiving gold level awards are Algonquin RMX in Algonquin and McHenry RMX in McHenry. Others receiving gold level awards are Angola RMX Plant in Angola, Ind., Goshen RMX Plant in Goshen, Ind. and Portable RMX in Oak Creek, Wis. The West Allis RMX facility in West Allis, Wis., received a bronze level award.
The 2011 NRMCA Safety Contest received 879 individual plant entries. All entries included safety records from calendar year 2010. NRMCA has estimated that there are currently 6,000 to 7,000 plants in the United States. The largest category for plants was gold with 570 excellence in Ssfety awards. The silver category had 10 excellence in safety awards. The bronze category had 23 awards.
