Santa coming to Schaumburg Nov. 25

The Schaumburg Fire Department will escort Santa Claus into town on Friday, Nov. 25 to join village officials in the annual tree-lighting ceremony and welcome the holiday season.

Mayor Al Larson and village trustees will begin the evening singing holiday carols at 6 p.m. at the Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court. Santa is expected to arrive at 6:30 p.m. in the plaza between the Prairie Center and the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center. Village officials will assist Santa in his tree-lighting duties.

Children can then meet and have their photos taken with Santa inside the Maggie Atcher Theatre, from 6:45 p.m. until approximately 8:30 p.m. Seasonal entertainment will be featured and refreshments served. Attendees also are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to the event for the Schaumburg Food Pantry. The event is co-sponsored with the Schaumburg Jaycees.
