Barrington agency receives $1,500 CVS Caremark grant

Barrington Youth & Family Services announced that it has received a $1,500 CVS Caremark Community Grant. The Community Grants Program was created by CVS Caremark to create greater access to health care services and provide support for the uninsured and underinsured.

The support from CVS Caremark will help BYFS provide expanded, pro-bono bilingual mental health services to the Barrington and Carpentersville area community within the boundaries of Barrington CUSD 220. BYFS is committed to never turning any CUSD 220 family away from its mental health counseling programs due to inability to pay, or lack of insurance. This much-needed grant from the CVS Caremark Community Grant Program will allow additional families to be served under BYFS’ sliding scale/no-fee program.

“It is encouraging to have CVS Caremark partner with BYFS in providing these needed mental health services to members of our community who are often overlooked,” said Angela Gallo, bilingual counselor from BYFS. “Removing the added stress of struggling to pay for counseling services will assist our clients in improving their mental health more quickly and enhance the quality of life in our community.”

“We are committed to making a positive impact in the communities where we live and work and the CVS Caremark Community grants program does just that by supporting organizations that provide access to health care to those who otherwise could not obtain it,” said Karen Ramos, senior manager, community relations, CVS Caremark Corporation. “We are proud to support the work that BYFS does in the community and we look forward to working with them in the year ahead.”

BYFS was selected to receive a grant through the CVS Caremark Community Grants 2011 application process. Grants were awarded to organizations that support CVS Caremark’s goal of making health services affordable and easy to access for all by providing programs for the uninsured. The goal of the CVS Caremark Community Grants program is to provide relief for both adults and children who lack medical insurance to get the proper medical attention needed.

“Through this grant, we are assuring that more individuals in the Barrington/Carpentersville community receive needed care, that the care received is of high quality, and that the uninsured are served by medical providers and professionals who are dedicated to improving their lives and the lives of others,” said Dennis Palmer, senior vice president, CVS Caremark.

BYFS is a nonprofit social service agency offering professional counseling, outreach, and prevention programs to Barrington/Carpentersville area youth and their families. Since 1972, BYFS has provided a comprehensive array of services to residents of Barrington, Cuba, Dundee and Ela Townships, who live within the boundaries of Barrington Community Unit School District 220.
