Wheeling High will miss great coach

Retiring from teaching/coaching after this school year, Coach Dunbar recently walked off the field for the last time as the head coach for the Wheeling High School Wildcats. Coach Dunbar teaches his players/students discipline and how to handle wins and losses in a respectful manner. He provides constructive feedback, with positive reinforcement. He looks to develop leaders in life by teaching his players/students to communicate with respect for one another, thereby developing positive traits in life.

He also always has winning in perspective. It is natural to want to win, but you also want your son or daughter to enjoy practicing and playing well, learning and working as a team, confidence building and staying in control emotionally.

Most importantly, Coach Dunbar always cares. He must have a deep sense of pride and satisfaction in his heart watching and learning that many of his players and students go on to succeed in college and in life.

Thank you, Coach. You have made a huge positive difference and that is what teaching and coaching should be all about. Everyone who has experienced your leadership on the field or in the classroom knows that they will experience failures, but it is what they do after they fail that defines who they are and is the most important.

May you be blessed with health and happiness from this day forward and also in your retirement. I know Wheeling High School, its employees, parents and students are blessed to have experienced your leadership.
