Thanks for support to food pantry

On Saturday, Oct. 22, the Mount Prospect Fire Department and Firefighters Local 4119 held a food drive in conjunction with the Mount Prospect Costco to benefit our local Food Pantry. The outpouring of public support was phenomenal. In a six hours period of time, our area residents donated over $10,000 of food and money.

In these challenging times, people are hurting. Many children and families, who a few months ago felt like they were doing OK, are now hanging on by threads. Those who were already at risk face even greater hardships, harder choices. This makes what happened last Saturday even more remarkable.

On behalf of the Village of Mount Prospect and the Human Services Department, I would like to thank all who took the time to donate food and/or money. I would also like to thank our Fire Department personnel who generously donated their time to make this food drive happen.

Nancy Morgan, Human Services Director
