Judson to host CCAC soccer games

The Judson University women’s soccer team will take the No. 2 seed into this weekend’s first round of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference postseason tournament, and the Eagles will host No. 7 Saint Xavier at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Judson’s Dawson Field.

The Eagles, who tied Olivet Nazarene for the regular-season conference title, will be seeking their second CCAC tournament crown. They won the conference tournament in 2007.

Saint Xavier finished the season 8-9-1 and 4-5-1 in the CCAC. Judson defeated Saint Xavier 3-2 in overtime on Oct. 1. Judson, ranked No. 18 in NAIA, is 15-2-2 for the season.

The winner of Saturday’s game will play the winner of the Trinity International vs. Trinity Christian game in the semifinals on Nov. 9.

Men’s soccer: Judson’s soccer team will also host a first-round CCAC tournament game as the No. 4 seed Eagles face No. 5 St. Francis at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Judson last won the CCAC tournament in 2008 and has won five CCAC tournaments in program history. Judson defeated St. Francis 2-1 on Oct. 8. Saturday’s winner faces top seed Robert Morris on Wednesday in Bensenville.

Pearce steps down: Judson women’s volleyball coach Jill Pearce has resigned, the school announced in a news release Wednesday. Pearce came to Judson in 2008 as an assistant coach and went 21-70 in three seasons as the Eagles’ head coach.
