Eating out: Whiskey dinner on tap at Cantigny

Whiskey dinner at Red Oak Room

Seats are still available for a five-course whiskey dinner at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Cantigny's Red Oak Room. The Balvenie Whiskey Ambassador will be on hand to describe different varieties and explain how they work with chef John Scieszka's menu. The cost is $68 per person (includes tax and gratuity).

Rosebud blossoms

Rosebud has done it again. The traditional Italian restaurant group opened Rosebud Italian Country House and Pizzeria in Deerfield. The new eatery features Rosebud specialties like homemade square noodles, fresh fish salad and a variety of pizzas. Available for catering, carryout or delivery.

Saranello's now open

Saranello's, a Lettuce Entertain You casual Italian dining concept, recently opened for lunch and dinner in Wheeling. Specialties include three-finger cavatelli made with pulled Amish chicken, a pesto broth and pine nuts, house-made ricotta cheese ravioli, pork and veal meatballs with a spicy Arrabbiata sauce and chicken meatballs with marinara.
