“Swing” coming to Prairie Center in Schaumburg

The song and dance extravaganza known as “Swing!” is being brought to the Prairie Center for the Arts in Schaumburg this weekend by HOTT Productions-Helping Others Through Theatre.

Swing exploded out of prewar Harlem’s hotbed of youth culture and swept the world. It shattered ethnic and cultural barriers, generating specialty styles such as jive, swing and lindy hop. Swing! celebrates this remarkable diversity to the beat of the most exhilarating songs of the period.

Swing! is produced by Chris Seminaro of Schaumburg; choreography and costume design by Donica Luzwick of Hanover Park; vocal direction by David Luzwick of Hanover Park; orchestra direction by Jim Franklin of Barrington; and set design and construction by Andy Purvin of Hoffman Estates.

Swing! will be performed 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, and Saturday, Nov. 5; 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6; and 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, and Saturday, Nov. 12.

The theater is at 201 Schaumburg Court. Reserved seating tickets may be purchased by calling (847) 895-2828. The box office is open from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. daily. For information, go to hottproductions.com or call (847) 650-4688.

HOTT Productions is inviting veterans from Edward Hines Jr. Veterans Hospital to attend the shows and donating the proceeds to the hospital. HOTT Productions is staffed fully by volunteers and founded with the mission of donating proceeds to charitable organizations.
