Evil results from a lack of God

A few thoughts for Joe Bauer (“If God’s so loving, then why the mess?”) on Oct. 18:

Joe, God is loving and he did not create this mess. To explain, let’s go back in history about 100 years.

A high-school science teacher was conducting his class. The topics of God, evolution and creationism were being discussed.

The teacher said to the class, “If there is a God and he is so loving, why would he create and allow evil to exist?”

A young man raised his hand and said “In our world, there are many things that don’t exist in and of themselves. For example, hot and cold. Cold does not exist by itself. It is a direct result of a lack of heat. Light and darkness. Darkness does not exist by itself, it is a direct result of a lack of light. The same goes for good and evil. Evil is a direct result of a lack of God.”

Who was this bright, young student? Albert Einstein.

I have one question for Joe and for everyone else who refuses to let God into their lives and refuse to believe: How’s it workin’ for ya?
