Smoking blamed for Naperville house fire
Naperville Fire Department officials are blaming a smoldering cigarette and smoking materials for a Thursday morning house fire.
Firefighters responded at 8:49 a.m. to a home at 466 Sheffield Road and discovered a small fire above the deck outside the home.
The fire was extinguished in about five minutes but crews remained at the home for roughly 45 minutes.
No injuries were reported. Authorities said the fire caused about $5,000 damage.
