Schaumburg Boomers roll out 2012 schedule
The Schaumburg Boomers will celebrate the 2012 return of professional baseball to Schaumburg on May 25 when the new club takes on the Florence Freedom for the home opener of its 96-game Frontier League season.
The Boomers will begin their inaugural season in Avon, Ohio against the Lake Erie Crushers May 18. Schaumburg will compete in the West Division of the Frontier League, an independent pro baseball league featuring 14 teams ranging from St. Louis to Pennsylvania up to Ontario, Canada.
Schaumburg has been without a baseball franchise since the Flyers folded in 2010.
All Friday home games in 2012 will feature fireworks after the game with additional fireworks displays on May 27 as part of Opening Weekend and also on Fan Appreciation Day Aug. 30.
Regular start times for Boomers home games Monday through Friday is 6:30 p.m., while Saturday games feature a first pitch of 6 p.m. and Sunday home games will begin at 1 p.m., with a few exceptions.
Every Frontier League club will make a stop in Schaumburg over the course of the season. The Boomers will play 12 games against the Joliet Slammers, Rockford RiverHawks and Windy City Thunderbolts respectively with six games (three home, three away) each against the remaining 10 clubs over the course of the season.
