VHHS cast to solve “The Mystery of Edwin Drood”
Vernon Hills High School's fall musical debuts this weekend.
The show, “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,” has shows scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the school auditorium, 145 Lakeview Parkway.
Additional performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4-5.
“Edwin Drood” is a melodramatic musical comedy in which the audience determines the ending.
The show is presented in honor of the bicentennial celebration of the birth of Charles Dickens, who died halfway through writing the novel, “The Mystery of Edwin Drood.”
The cast attempts to answer the questions Dickens didn't by asking the audience to vote on key questions including the identity of the killer. People who see the show on different dates could see different stories as a result.
“I am very excited to direct the musical,” director Kevin Phelan said. “The students are just fabulous. The talent onstage is amazing and it is a privilege to watch the students rehearse each day.”
Tickets are $5, $4 for students.
