‘Standout’ is poster child for generation

What a wonderfully written article about Amberly Glitz on Page 1 of the Oct. 20 Daily Herald. Amberly’s motivation for helping others and excelling at every single endeavor she sets to accomplish, is just wonderfully heartwarming.

Let’s get this straight, at Providence College ROTC, she received the highest overall fitness test scores, she attained the highest possible scores for her confidence, communication and resiliency skills, and if that wasn’t enough, she proved to be respected by her peers earning a 148 on a peer rating when the score of 100 is typical. Wow.

Her volunteer skills and patriotism also add to her overall status as a real ‘Suburban Standout.” I think that moniker is an understatement — she is awesome. It was a pleasure to read about such a motivated, nice, generous young lady when many at this age are in that entitlement stage, as in “what can you hand to me without me working for it?” Or “where is the next party?”

Amberly is the poster child for her generation with the message to get up, get going, do you best and work hard. I cannot imagine this student ever whining or complaining about possible obstacles on her way to achieving any goals. She would be a great motivational speaker at high schools. Great feature story.
