Police searching for suspects in Mount Prospect attack
Mount Prospect police are still searching for a group of suspects who beat up an intoxicated man Saturday behind a convenience store on the 1700 block of West Dempster Road, authorities said.
Cmdr. John Wagner said officers called to a field behind the store at 6:55 p.m. Saturday found the man lying face down with his face bruised badly and blood coming from his mouth.
Officers questioned the intoxicated victim, and discovered that three men had attacked him while he was walking near the field. No robbery took place, Wagner said, and officers are still trying to determine why the victim was targeted.
The victim was transported to Northwest Community Medical Center in Arlington Heights, where he was treated and released Saturday, Wagner said.
Officers also located a witness who said a “lookout” positioned to alert the attackers of anyone approaching prevented him from getting a closer look at the beating.
The lookout was described as a Hispanic male, about 18 years old, standing about 5-foot-4 and weighing about 130 pounds.
After the attack, the offenders reportedly fled the field on foot, Wagner said.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Mount Prospect Police Department at (847) 870-5656.
