Colorado beats Blackhawks in shootout
Joakim Lindstrom scored the only goal in the shootout and the Colorado Avalanche won their sixth straight road game by beating the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4 on Saturday night.
Semyon Varlamov made 34 saves through overtime, then stopped Viktor Stalberg, Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane in the shootout to help Colorado (6-2) extend its record streak of road wins from the start of a season.
Avalanche rookie Gabriel Landeskog’s second goal of the game with 1:48 left in the third period tied it at 4 and forced overtime. He broke in on alone on goalie Corey Crawford after taking a pass from Ryan O’Reilly.
Paul Stastny and David Jones also scored in regulation for the Avalanche, who couldn’t hold a two-goal lead after two periods.
