Man pleads not guilty to marijuana possession
A Twin Lakes, Wis., man pleaded not guilty Friday to possession of the marijuana police say they found when the man got into the middle of a property dispute.
Eric Fahrner, 42, faces up to three years in prison if convicted of felony possession of marijuana but would also be eligible for probation.
Lake County Assistant State’s Attorney Rod Drobinski said Fahrner was hired to move some property out of a residence on the 38000 block of North Primrose Path in Spring Grove that was the subject of a landlord-tenant dispute.
When the landlord saw Fahrner carrying things out of the apartment on the evening of Sept. 2, he called Lake County sheriff’s police.
Drobinski said the deputy who arrived at the scene smelled marijuana, and Fahrner admitted he had just smoked some and had more in his car.
The deputy found close to three ounces of the drug in a plastic bag between the two front seats in the vehicle, Drobinski said.
Circuit Judge Daniel Shanes scheduled a trial of the case for Oct. 31. Shanes ordered Fahrner, who is free on a signature bond, to appear in court Oct. 18.
